| This is me trying to look cool after a sweaty run. |
I'm overweight, but getting smaller.
I'm almost 50 (48 right now).
I'm getting fit before 50.
Training for my first 1/2 marathon in 2017.
I'm a sugarholic.
So let's take it way back for a minute. I have not always been a runner. Over the years I have started, and not completed the Couch to 5K (c25k) program more times than I can count.
I was never really an athlete growing up. Sure I played a few sports, but was pretty much always "just good enough", and never a super star, or what I would consider an "athlete".
Finally, in January 2015 I decided to make a change in my life. I started recording everything I ate using My Fitness Pal, and started the C25K program. It stuck, and I rocked it.
In June of 2015 I had lost 25 pounds and run a total of 93 miles that month. Then things began to crumble. My runs became more and more infrequent. My eating amounted to basically putting any food I wanted in my mouth - I blew it big time.
By August 2016, I had gained back 20 pounds, and had completely stopped running. I was fed up and it was time for a change.
So in Augus 2016 I restarted the C25K program, and stuck with it. So this begins my running, fitness and weight loss journey that I will be talking about here. Enjoy the ride with me, and be sure to drop me a note if you have any comments or questions!

I appreciate the motivation Burke. I started a similar journey in 2009 and have been through a few highs and lows with consistency, diet and injury. Good luck in 2017 and keep it going!
